SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Produce relevant, informative newscasts at KHOU 11 from beginning to end by using strong news judgment to select stories that matter to our demographic and taking shows to the control room, with repeated success timing them correctly for commercial breaks and on/off times
  • Write and edit concise, creative copy for 2-and-a-half hour morning show. I’m comfortable working under tight deadlines and pressure
  • Respond quickly to breaking news and severe weather situations by either producing newscasts at that time or helping other producers with continuing coverage
  • Use technical skills that include shooting and editing video with Sony XPRI, Final Cut Pro 7 and Adobe Premiere Pro, creating graphics and operating teleprompter

  • Select and assemble stories in a rundown, taking assigned newscast to control room where I time it to commercial breaks as well as get the program on and off at specific times. I have also filled in as a producer on the 430 AM, 6 AM, Noon and Saturday 6 and 10 PM shows
  • Act as a coordinating producer for the 6 AM line producer, helping with adding breaking news/new content and live shots
  • Use tools to engage viewers/gage their interest including Tagboard, CrowdTangle, Chartbeat, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Write concise copy
  • Use the newsroom management system AP ENPS
  • Edit video to go along with stories using Sony XPRI

  • Produced monthly fine arts show, “Is It Art, Yet?,” which includes booking guests, hosting, and pre and post-production, to increase student interest in HCC arts programs
  • Coordinated HCC’s involvement at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo by organizing coverage, generating story ideas, and producing, writing and recording segments for broadcast on air and web
