Brittaney Wilmore is a multimedia journalist with a passion for learning. As a native Houstonian, she started her career four and a half years ago as a volunteer with Houston Community College Television (HCCTV). From there, she climbed to a full-time position that included being on-air talent, producer, writer, editor, videographer, and more. She’s covered events such as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis’ visit to Houston Community College (HCC) and the 2011 announcement of the meningitis law. Plus, she also worked the sports circuit, covering the Houston Texans and the Houston Dynamo. Now, she’s a news producer at KHOU-TV. She produces the 5 a.m. show but also fills in on the 6 a.m., weekends, noon and wherever else needed.
Her experience in print journalism dates back to high school where she was a staff writer on the school newspaper and reported on finance, politics and fashion. She has also contributed to newsletters at Penn State, HCC and the University of Houston. Now, she’s a freelance writer for CultureMap covering society, fashion, sports, events and more.
When she’s not writing or reporting, Brittaney is studying languages. She studied abroad in Angers, France in 2012 and hopes to learn more languages including Spanish, Portuguese and German. Brittaney loves to travel and is open to working in various locations domestically and abroad.
